On March 27th, the Bulldog tennis team travelled to Great Falls to learn new skills and play some matches against new opponents. They traveled to Meadowlark Country Club in Great Falls. At this special clinic, the team got to learn from pro tennis players in the morning and then apply their skills to their matches in the afternoon.

The girls practiced their serves, ground strokes, volleys, and played games with coaches from many different teams. They were coached on each of these skills and each player felt they improved on these skills, even though they didn’t get to train for long. After they finished with the skills clinic, they got a break for lunch before playing matches.

These matches were abbreviated sets, meaning they started at 2-2 and the first team to 6 won that set. If the teams are tied at 6, they play a tiebreaker to determine who wins, and they win 7-6. They must win 2 out of 3 sets to win the match. If they were to split with a team, each winning one game, they played a tiebreaker as a third set. The first team that the Bulldogs played was Fairfield, and they won the dual 6-0. Each spot- doubles 1, doubles 2, and singles 1-4, all won their matches. Arabella McDaniel played in the singles 1 spot and won her match 6-4, and 6-2. Jacey Brunette in the singles 2 spot won her match 6-4, and 6-3. Addy White (singles 3) swept her opponent 6-2, 6-2. Finally, Hailey Hildreth (singles 4) won her match 6-3, and 6-4. Violet Collins and Bryleigh Erickson won their matchup in doubles 1, 6-3 and 6-4. Harper Wolfgram and Chloe Flynn (doubles 2) won their match also, 6-4 and 6-3.

In the second set of matches, the Bulldogs faced Fort Benton. They won this dual overall, winning 6 matches and only losing 2. The competition was close, but the Bulldogs came out on top in most matches. Harper Wolfgram (singles 1) lost in a match that was as close as possible. Each game set went to a tiebreaker, and it went to 3 sets. The end scores were: 1st set, 6-7 and 5-7 in the tie breaker, 2nd set, 7-6 and 7-4 in the tie breaker, and the final tie breaker was 12-14. Arabella McDaniel (singles 2) won her match 7-6, and 6-2. Chloe Flynn (singles 3) won her game 6-3, and 6-2. Kylee Warburton (singles 5) won her match 6-4 and 6-2. Nayla Mendoza played two matches and won the first 6-4 and 7-5. She lost the second 3-6 and 4-6.

The tennis team is working really hard and hopes to have a very successful season this year. They are off to a great start and are excited for their upcoming tournaments. Next, they travel back to Great Falls to play in the Great Falls Classic on April 2nd.
