I-194, The Montana Plan, is a nonpartisan, volunteer-led ballot initiative to end dark money and corporate spending in Montana elections. WHAT: A free community roundtable on I-194, The Montana Plan, facilitated by Montana Plan Executive Director Russell Cleveland. The evening will begin with a brief overview of the initiative, followed by an open discussion where attendees can ask questions and talk through how political spending afects their community. Everyone is welcome, whether they already support I-194 or still have questions. No RSVP required.
WHEN: Monday, October 12, 2026, 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
WHERE: Broadwater School and Community Library, 201 North Spruce Street, Townsend, Montana
WHO: Russell Cleveland, Executive Director of The Montana Plan, will facilitate the roundtable. Cleveland is a Navy veteran, small-business owner, and rancher. The event is open to everyone, and local business owners are especially encouraged to attend.
WHY: The Townsend roundtable is part of a series of conversations The Montana Plan is holding in communities across the state. The Montana Plan would end political spending by corporations, LLCs, unions, nonprofits, and other artificial persons using treasury funds to support or oppose candidates or ballot measures. Political spending would instead have to come from real people, subject to Montana’s campaign-finance disclosure laws.
