Radersburg Native Represents Montana at Army Reserve Event in Washington, D.C.

Radersburg native Noah Smith represented the state of Montana at a national Army Reserve Reenlistment Ceremony in Washington, D.C. May 27. Smith, 26, is a Broadwater High School graduate and has served in the Reserve for 7 years.

In an interview, Staff Sergeant Smith said he was chosen to represent Montana when he reenlisted for another four years after having served three years in a combat zone in Iraq, Kuwait, and Jordon. He now serves in the 652nd Regional Support Group.

The ceremony represented all 50 states and 5 territories as a salute to the Reserve’s 250th anniversary. The ceremony was held at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia. All 56 enlistees were sworn in by Lieutenant General Robert D. Harter, Chief of the Army Reserve and Commanding General of the US Army Reserve Command. The US Army Reserve is made up of 174,000 civilian soldiers and 11,000 civilians.

He now lives near Townsend and has two brothers. Soon to be a newlywed, Smith said he’ll stay in the service for life. “The Army has been very good to me,” he said.
