CITY OF TOWNSEND- WATER ANNOUNCEMENT City of Townsend May 2026: Attention City Water Consumers

Townsend Water System Update

* The new Water Tower testing is PROJECTED to take place during the week of June 8, 2026, barring any delays with the tower painting. Water customers can expect to see an increase in water pressure during this time.

* The final tank operation is still expected to go online in August 2026. City property owners and residents can expect increases in city water pressure as the new water tower comes online and is tested, disinfected, and ultimately placed into service. Water pressure is expected to increase from 50-55 psi to 71-77 psi.

As communicated through the March 2026 flyer, Water Customers continue to be advised of the following steps:

* Locate your water shut-off valve and your curb box. If you're unsure where your curb box is, contact the City, and Public Works will respond as quickly as possible.

* Check your water pressure using a pressure gauge available at most hardware stores

* Consider a plumbing inspection to determine whether a pressure-reducing valve is necessary; it is possible your existing plumbing and fixtures will accommodate the increased pressures.

* Install or inspect a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) to maintain safe household pressure levels.

If you have questions, please contact the City at (406) 266-3911 or via email at cityoftownsend@townsendmontana.net
