Tennis Team Rained Out at Best of the West Tournament

On Friday and Saturday, May 15th and 16th, the Bulldogs Varsity tennis team travelled to Missoula to compete in the Best of the West Tournament. Teams from all over the state attended, many of whom the Bulldogs will see at State. Friday morning, the Meadowlark Tennis Club in Missoula put on a clinic for all of the teams that were competing in the tournament. The girls went to stations and worked on serving and volleying. They also played multiple games.

During the tournament, the Bulldogs competed in Doubles 1 and 2 brackets, as well as Singles 1, 2, and 3 brackets. It was a rainy weekend, and the teams played 2 matches before the tournament was cancelled because of the rain. The scoring for this tournament was one pro-set to 8 games and a 7-point tie breaker if needed.

Arabella McDaniel competed in the Singles 3 bracket for the Bulldogs and won both of her matches. She beat both her Conrad opponent and Fort Benton opponent 8-0.

Jacey Brunette competed in the Singles 2 bracket and won both her matches. She beat her Conrad opponent 8-4 and her Fort Benton opponent 8-4.

Harper Wolfgram competed in the Singles 1 bracket. She beat Conrad 8-5 and lost her match against Fort Benton 2-8.

Addy White competed in the doubles 2 bracket with Kylee Warburton first, then with Nayla Mendoza as her partner. They won their Conrad match 8-1 and their Fort Benton match 8-7.

Bryleigh Erickson and Chloe Flynn represented the Bulldogs in the Doubles 1 bracket. They won their match against Conrad 8-0 and their match against Fort Benton 8-4.

The Bulldogs finished this tournament winning 9 matches with one loss. Although the competition was cut short, the team still had a lot of fun and enjoyed travelling to Missoula. Next week, the team will compete in the Divisional tournament in Belgrade. They will play on Wednesday, May 20th, as well as Thursday, May 21st.
