Several BHS students received Superior ratings at the District Music Festival on April 9 and 10, despite having performed in Helena on Thursday, then in Bozeman on Saturday.

Thursday evening, the band performed songs for the judges in front of an audience. Following their performance, they received feedback and helpful critique from the adjudicators before tackling a sight-reading piece. The band will perform in Townsend on May 4 at their spring concert.

Several students performed a variety of solo and ensemble selections at Gallatin High School in Bozeman before a small audience and an adjudicator. As with band performances, these students received feedback and learned new techniques to incorporate into their songs for continued improvement.

The students who received a “Superior Rating” for their performances will move to the Western State Music Festival in Helena on May 1st. Students who qualified for State are Flute trio – Hannah and Hailey Hildreth and Tia Tallwhiteman; Vocal Solo – Tia Tallwhiteman; Piano Solos- Simon Sanchez and Tia Tallwhiteman; Trumpet Solo – Simon Sanchez and Trombone Solo – Mason Johnson.
