BHS Spring Musical a Huge Success

The BHS students have been practicing and preparing for the Spring Musical for weeks. They finally performed their hard work on Monday and Tuesday, April 20th and 21st. The musical, titled “Most Likely To: The Senior Superlative Musical”, was an amazing experience and did not disappoint. The show was hilarious, never failing to get a laugh, and the singing was great.

The musical started with a scene, where the group sang about how high school is, “winners and losers in a race of also-rans. A collection of rejections of who you most likely think I am.” Valedictorian, Val, played by Angel Sentinella, and Salutatorian, Sal, was played by Ayden Thompson. Val was voted most studious and had a hilarious scene about having to “tutor” the class jock. Sal was voted most likely to use a lifeline, and along with Val sang their take on a classic song, modified as a math version, "Power to Pi".

Clayton Rice, who played Bryan- Class Playa - wrote and performed his own song titles, “High School, I Hate You!”. Sarah Morgan played Polly, most OCD - and performed her song "OCD Over You" about her love interest. Her twin sister, Molly - most popular and most dramatic - played by Kyla Meissner, sang her "Over You Reprise". Chloe Johnson played Kyra, who was voted most team spirited, and the brains and beauty.

Hannah Hall played the dramatic role of Rosie, who was voted almost dramatic. She sang about having a gift but only getting parts as the mayor’s wife. She got increasingly upset throughout the play about being awarded, almost dramatically.

Tic and Elle, played by Simon Sanchez and Annabelle Kline, were both voted best hair. They offered snide commentary and hilarious sarcasm.

Gabe Krueger played Lucas, who was voted most likely to think outside of the box. Lexi Davies and Aubrey Wells played Liz and Skylar. Liz won as the class gossip, and Sklar the most phobic. Together, they sang "The Paranoid Song" and informed all of the characters about the current gossip.

Kaitlyn Noyes played Anastasia, who was voted most photogenic, best dressed, and “Ms.” senior superlative.

Tessie Hughes played Olivia, who was voted class clown, offering distracting jokes, just as a class clown does. Mason Johnson played Sam, who was the most overlooked.

The group came together to sing, "Why Can’t We Be Both", a challenge to high school stigma that you can only be one thing, performed as a twist between a High School Musical and Romeo and Juliet.

At the end, the group came together to sing "Push Comes to Shove" and "Before Me Now", where the group anxiously waited for the announcement of who would be voted best all around. They announced that the best all-around was Sam, the most overlooked. At the end, they all graduate and go on to do things that no one expected.

While the play had its humorous and entertaining moments, the serious moments were just as moving. The play was a testament to high school and highlighted the great moments and struggles that come with it. BHS has had outstanding plays and musicals, and anyone who has attended one will recommend that you come!

The play was directed by Joy Baum and Denise Bakkum. Lori Morris played all the music. Creighton Wright and Joe Gill helped with lighting and sound, and Lucas Feller and Lyrique Bryant had parts in the ensemble.

The BHS seniors who were part of the production should also be recognized for their commitment to the plays, musicals, and BHS drama over their years in high school. The seniors are Kaitlyn Noyes, Aubrey Wells, Lexi Davies, and Hannah Hall.
