Family of Betty DeVaney

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Betty K. DeVaney. After a long battle with an illness, she passed into eternity on April 19, 2026, in Townsend, Montana, surrounded by loved ones.
She was born in Butte, Montana, on July 2, 1945, to Michael J. O’Connor and Mary C. Fleming O’Connor. She was the oldest of six children. She grew up in Anaconda and Helena and graduated from Helena Cathedral High School in 1963. She worked in the insurance industry for many years and retired from the State of Montana in 2010. She spent her free time gardening, bowling, attending book club and spending time with family.
She is survived by her three daughters, Katie Groff (Jerry) of South Kona, Hawaii, Colleen Cartwright (Michael) of Townsend, Montana and Kary DeVaney of Lewistown, Montana and six grandchildren, Shawn Cartwright (McKenzie) of Townsend, Montana, Kyle Stidham (Ashley) of Great Falls, Montana, Jacob Cartwright (Shannon) of Townsend, Montana, Kelsie Eakins (Ian) of Marine City, Michigan and Brenna Holdaway of Salem, Oregon. She had numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her siblings Maureen (Jim) McEnaney of Boise, Idaho, Rosemary Miller of Helena, Michael O’Connor (Lois) of Helena, and Margaret O’Connor (Daryl Chan) of Helena.
She is preceded in death by her parents and youngest brother, Bernard O’Connor.
Services will be held at Trailhead Christian Fellowship Church on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 2:00 pm with a reception to follow.
The family would like to thank the Billings Clinic Broadwater in Townsend for the excellent care Betty received.
