ATV Poker Run Event Plans Move Forward

MT43 News Staff Reporter

Townsend Area Chamber of Commerce is asking its members to step up and volunteer for the June 6 event to be held at Top Gun Auto. Chamber officers are encouraging members to contact them to sign up for jobs and stations.

The large event, in past years, has hosted up to 300 ATVs from around the state to traverse the 100- mile run and win prizes. The event will include food, parking, gaming and lots of fun for participants.

Top Gun Auto, at 7675 US Highway 287 north of Townsend, has graciously offered their facility and parking lot as a staging area for poker runners and their vehicles, according to Doug Sitton, Chamber member and chairman of the committee. The event begins with sign-in at 9:00 a.m. To register for the event, go to https://www.townsendmtchamber.com.

In other business, Sitton and Tom Hay of Rocky Mountain Mini Cabins have moved forward with plans for the US 250th celebration on July 4 at Heritage Park.

Tim Pool at American Legion Post #42 is in charge of the parade on Broadway Street. Hay explained that the group was able to secure a small grant for signs and food, so a food truck will provide free dinners for everyone who attends. Townsend Rotary has donated some funds for the event, according to Sitton: “There will be lots of food, fun, music and hopefully fireworks. We haven’t worked out all the details yet.”

Secretary Rachael Brug reported a Montana Nonprofit Association training program for building communities will be held May 5 in White Sulphur Springs at Two Bassett Brewery. For more information or to sign register or for information, go to websites: https://www. mtnonprofit.org or https://www. townsendmtchamber.com.

The next Chamber meeting is planned for May 14 at Heritage Park at 6:00 p.m. It will be a potluck, and all Chamber members are encouraged to attend.
