Terry Lynn Lamping, 69, passed away on November 22, 2025, in East Helena, Montana. Born on May 27, 1956, in Great Falls, Montana, Terry lived a life rooted in dedication to her family, her work, and the simple joys that brought her happiness.
Terry graduated from Polson High School and went on to build a diverse and accomplished career. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service, demonstrating diligence and professionalism. Later, she embraced entrepreneurship as a business owner. After retirement, Terry “convinced” her husband, Phil, to return to work in a capacity that provided them both physical activity and social engagement, so they started a position in personal shopping. In each role, she brought integrity and commitment that reflected her resolute nature.
Those around her knew her as charismatic and loyal, qualities that shone through in every aspect of her life. Her honesty was unwavering, and she carried herself with compassion and patience that left lasting impressions on all who knew her.
Terry found joy in the everyday moments: tending to her garden with care, cheering passionately for Montana Grizzlies football games, and expressing creativity through baking and cake decorating. She especially cherished time spent watching her children and grandchildren play sports—a source of pride and connection for her. Summers camping at Lake Mary were among her favorite traditions, offering peace and togetherness in the beauty of nature.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Philip Lamping; sons, Chris (Tiffany) Lamping, Jory Lamping, and Brandon Lamping; brother, Alan (Jackie) Fryslie; sister, Denise (Cliff) Willis; grandchildren, Kiya, Kelton, Jayana, and Karsyn Lamping; and beloved pets, Mugsy and Hopper.
Terry was preceded in death by her father, James Hayes; mother, Ramona Paul; stepmother, Naomi Hayes; and sisters, Scarlett Mills, Cyndy Nelson, and Lloydene Paul.
In lieu of flowers, an account has been opened at Valley Bank of Helena in Terry’s name. The family would welcome charitable donations and contributions to help cover funeral costs.
Her memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May it bring comfort to all who mourn her passing. A Funeral Service will be held on December 12, 2025, at 03:00 PM at Anderson Stevenson Wilke & Retz Funeral Home, 3750 North Montana Ave. Burial Services will immediately follow the funeral services at Saint Ann’s Cemetery in East Helena, and a reception will be held at the Helena Valley Community Center, 3553 Tizer Rd, in its wake.
