New Members Join the Townsend Area Chamber of Commerce

Townsend Area Chamber of Commerce Secretary Rachael Brug explained at the October 16 chamber meeting they will continue their Trunk of Treat event at their annual Ghost Stroll on Halloween, October 31st.
“We are encouraging nonprofits, individuals and businesses that are not on Broadway to decorate a vehicle and then give out candy to the Ghost Strollers. To sign up for the event, the Chamber will have a sign-up table across from the Commercial beginning at 3:45 pm. We would like everyone to sign up so we can assign them a slot in front of Broadway businesses,” she said.
In other activity, Brug pointed out two new businesses have joined the group this month. They are Travis Olsen of East Helena, who runs Homestead Handy and does metal fabrication, and Sallie Clark of Zen Business.
New members present at the meeting were Cole and Brie Berstad of Big Belt Auto, Kyle Altman, owner of CSI, a Belgrade construction company and Travis Olsen.
Chamber member Doug Sitton reported on installing the Chamber sign at Townsend Stockyards, across from Top Gun Auto on Highway 287. He has cleared hurdles with the stockyards officials and the Montana Department of Highways to install the sign. Badger Materials will supply cement and ADaZ Concrete will pour footings for the permanent sign, which reads “Welcome to Townsend.”
The group is experiencing more use of the electronic sign near the Townsend swimming pool on Highway 287. The sign, which gives new chamber members a place to advertise their business, has been a big hit with local businesses. The chamber includes events information on the sign.
Brug reported on the chamber’s activity with Southwest Montana, the official tourism organization that promotes cities, towns and parks within the area. She encouraged businesses to join the organization and stressed the organization needs a board member from Broadwater County.
