Amber Holm at Townsend Dental sent us this picture of the BHS Marching Band:
"Us gals at the dentist office saw the marching band playing for the kiddos at the preschool through the window and thought it was such a sweet moment." - Amber Holm.
MT43 News' Brenda Phillips contacted Townsend Schools Music Teacher Karen Walton to learn more:
Thursday, October 2nd, the Townsend High School Marching Band, led by Music teacher Karen Walton, was out practicing their marching so they would be ready for the Homecoming Parade on October 3rd.
You may have seen or heard the band marching around the streets of Townsend in the early mornings for the last few weeks.
This week, as they marched past the Preschool in the building by Deep Creek Pizza, they decided to stop and entertain the children who were all lined up at the big windows to watch. The little ones really enjoyed the music.
During Homecoming activities, a mom of one of the preschoolers told Ms. Walton her son was telling her about the band visit and said, “It was the best day of his life”.
It has been quite a few years since Townsend has had a Marching Band. The High School Pep Band plays for Volleyball games, Football, and Basketball games, but this is their 1st year as a Marching Band.
Ms. Walton is new to Townsend High School and thought she would provide this new opportunity for the students.
Editor's Note:
Thank you, Amber, Brenda and Karen! Moments like this are why I moved back home to Townsend.
