Old Baldy Golf Club Receives Grant for New Utility Cart
MT43 News Staff Reporter
Old Baldy Golf Club’s utility cart has been on its last legs for some time. Recently, the nonprofit group received the okay to purchase a new one, according to Rotary President Doug Sitton, who presented a check for $7,500 to Club President and Maintenance Superintendent Cory Bakkum.
The club had applied for the grant, along with many other community organizations that approached Townsend Rotary with good projects that benefit the community but would not come to fruition without funding from outside sources, according to Sitton.
Townsend Rotary has underwritten $80,000 in grants this year for 32 different projects, including high school scholarships, playground equipment and baseball field upgrades.
Sitton remarked that most of those funds are the result of Fall Fest income. “Everyone in the community works together to make the Fall Fest happen: we work with each other, which benefits the community in the long run,” he said.
