Townsend Area Chamber Plans for Ghost Stroll
MT43 News Staff Reporter
At its regular meeting Thursday, Townsend Area Chamber members firmed up plans for its annual Ghost Stroll, which is held on Broadway each year.
The members met at The Creative Closet on Broadway.
Chamber President Anna Glueckert encouraged all Townsend businesses to plan their Trunk R Treat offerings of candy, games and prizes for all ages. The fun begins at 4:30 pm on Friday, October 31st. She emphasized that food vendors are welcome to join. They must get their own City of Townsend solicitors’ licenses and will be allowed to operate in parking lots and on side streets, but not on Broadway Street itself. There will be a sign-in desk downtown for businesses.
Twenty area businesses are members of the chamber. Glueckert encouraged everyone at the meeting to talk to other business owners about attending the meetings to get involved. Two new business owners have joined. They are Circle B Enterprises, LLC of Toston and Northwestern Mutual Financial of Townsend.
In other business, Secretary Rachael Brug explained the chamber will be applying for a Southwest Montana Co-op marketing grant of $2,000. The matching grant may be used for business and event promotion items such as flyers, radio and television advertising and social media marketing.
Brug reported on the new chamber video sign usage. The sign is near the swimming pool on Front Street. Both members and nonmembers are using the sign. Cost is $50 per week for members and $100 per week for nonmembers.
The meeting concluded with a discussion about reinstalling the “Welcome to Townsend” Chamber sign near Townsend Stockyards, north of Townsend City limits.
The next meeting will be held at 408 Broadway, the Mt43News office at 408 Broadway at 6:00 pm on Thursday, October 16.
