'Tis the Time, 'Tis the Place!
Do you smell it? The slight whiff of pumpkins in the air, and the sign of fresh hay bales everywhere. Ah yes, tis the time of Autumn, even better. The occasion of Fall Fest, Townsend, Montana! Here we go…..Yea 'tis time to away, time to Par-tay, yea even onto the break of day!
It’s that special time of year, the time of Fall Fest! Cooler weather, (mostly) great treats (mostly foods I can’t eat). This weekend the vendors will be setting up, the bands will be tuning up, and the Homecoming Parade will again be battling for position on Pine St. & Broadway with the vendors.
The brisk morning air brings back a lively, energetic feeling to all. Not quite flannel shirt season, but close.
Call it Autumn or Fall, this season brings with it a feeling of home and hearth. A bit of letdown from the ever-vigilant gardeners - except to harvest. The farmers have had a great season, with lots of rain and fields that have yielded even as much as 3 crop rotations. The cattle and horses all seem fat and sassy and content that they have devoured their quota of crops.
The squirrels are fat & demanding and promising a cold winter. I love to see the colors of fall as the trees start turning, it gives a bright beauty to our local landscape.
The town Fall Fest maps are out, whether here in the newspaper or in local businesses, there are directions for locals and our many visiting tourists. It’s a time of celebration and revelry, a time for a couple of days to forget the chores and “meet & greet” old friends at the Fest. All local groups will be represented: the Rotary Club and Lions club will be selling their great foods and of course beer & brats for everyone.
Make sure you dress for…"every kind of weather you can imagine, and some you can’t”. Cool wonderful mornings, with the smell of Fire Hall breakfast, and many types of goodies. The smell of wood furniture, and many scented candles / Scentsy items/fall perfumes - some from nature; some from the ladies. And FOOD of all types! As well as beer ’ed up revelers. So come and enjoy Townsend, Mt. partying, during our annual Autumn ritual. Eat, drink and make Mary (but only if she lets you).
THEN on Sunday, there comes the greatest memory-bringing event. The Fall Fest Classic car show. Hundreds of those beautiful American heavy metal, classic automobiles from days of yore. Truly a memory flooding event, from the days of High School parties and races, and sports gatherings. Mmmm, the smell and thoughts of youth and young love. Along with the Classic Rock and Roll music from the 50s and 60s.
Come join us for a weekend of good folks and good eats. Trust me, you will be glad you did! We need to make new memories for the cold winter months ahead.
Excelsior!
