The front tracks of the car passed over safely, but for some reason the hind ones tried to take another track, with the result that two steel rails were broken and the car and its contents deposited on one side of the track.

A very pleasant dinner party was given by Dr. and Mrs. Belcher on Saturday at 8 o’clock p.m., at which hour the large dining room in their spacious residence was handsomely decorated and illuminated for the occasion. The table was spread with everything in the edible line possible to procure in the market and served in a manner which made the guests feel that to go hungry would be criminal to nature. The evening was spent in games and music. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Hale, Mrs. R.H. Dean, Mr. and Mrs. W.K. Mayne and family, your humble scribe and wife, besides the host and hostess.

“School Driver”

Bus Driver of the week is Wes Horne, who has been living in Broadwater County since 1918. He has driven as a substitute for Ray and Betty Horne for 2 ½ years on the Radersburg route. Wes figures he has driven between 15,000 and 20,000 miles in one of those yellow buses. He says he gets along well with owners, parents and especially the kids. And, speaking of kids, Wes read last week’s “Bus Driver” Which featured Marvin Meyer, and he remembers when Marvin was a passenger on one of Wes’ buses.
