Join us at the Canton Church on July 25 for an entertaining look at Broadwater County and the county's ties to the famed Butte Copper Kings. Mostly fact and some fun speculation will make the presentation interesting.
Broadwater County was created in 1897 from parts of Meagher County, Jefferson County, Lewis and Clark County and Gallatin County. Although a new county, Broadwater played an important part in one of the most infamous events in Montana History.
Come to the Canton Church to learn about Townsend resident A.E. Spriggs – political mastermind – and how he brought about the creation of Broadwater County, AND his connection to William A Clark.
William A Clark is one of the “Butte Copper Kings” who made an incredible fortune from the Butte copper mines. The Wall Street Journal stated that William A Clark was arguably the wealthiest man in the United States.
