Wallace Harry Richtmyer, 86, of Missoula, Montana, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025.

Born September 25, 1938, in Townsend, Montana, Wally grew up there and spent a brief time in Sunset Beach, California, during World War II. He graduated from Broadwater County High School before moving to Missoula, where he built his life and career.

Wally worked for many years as a skilled bookbinder and was proud of his service in the Montana National Guard. He was also a dedicated member of numerous civic organizations over the years, including the Masonic Lodge, the Eagles, the Elks, and the Lions Club.

An avid outdoorsman, Wally loved to hunt, fish, and camp across the Montana landscape. He rarely missed a local game, attending countless sporting events and often coaching them himself. Through decades of coaching Little Grizzly football and Little League baseball, he left a lasting impact on the lives of thousands of Missoula kids.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda Heath; his parents, Wallace “Bud” Richtmyer and Gertrude Rose Richtmyer; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Donna and Jim Smith, and Reta and Jim Hedberg.

Wally is survived by his children, Karen (Joe), Mark (Robin), and Russ; his grandchildren, Rachel, Roman, Justin, Alexa, Ashley, Andrew, and Averi; his great grandchildren Riley, Addison, Hunter, Wade, Audrey, Grey and Eleanor; and his brothers Gary (Susan) and Lary (Shelly). He is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate Wally’s life will be held at Deep Creek Cemetery, Townsend, Montana, on August 20, 2025.
