The annual PTA Reflections contest, which encourages students to explore their creativity through the arts, recently concluded with several local students earning top honors at both the local and state levels. This year’s theme, “Accepting Imperfections,” inspired heartfelt and powerful submissions in photography, literature, and visual arts.
At the state level, two students brought home first-place awards: Hannah Hildreth in middle school photography and Kaitlyn Noyes in high school literature. Second-place state honors went to Hailey Hildreth for high school literature, Harper Wolfgram for high school visual arts, and Tessie Hughes for middle school photography. In addition, Judge's Choice Awards were given to Nick Taylor for high school visual arts and Tessie Hughes for middle school visual arts, recognizing their standout entries.
At the local level, students from all grade groups submitted impressive work in multiple categories. In the visual arts category for grades K–2, Daniel Hildreth earned first place and Cece Watne received second. For grades 3–5, Scarlett Watne placed first and Zola Six took second. In middle school visual arts, first place went to Tessie Hughes, with Ella Tullos in second. High school visual arts saw Harper Wolfgram in first place and Nick Taylor in second. In middle school photography, Tessie Hughes took first, followed by Hannah Hildreth in second. For high school literature, Kaitlyn Noyes placed first and Hailey Hildreth earned second.
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to this year’s judges—Michelle and Chris Christensen, Bastian Grandy, and Virginia Poole—for generously volunteering their time and offering thoughtful evaluations of each entry.
The PTA Reflections program continues to provide a powerful platform for students to explore important ideas and express their individual voices through art. We invite all students to participate in next year’s Reflections program for the 2025–26 school year. The new theme is “I Belong”—a meaningful opportunity to share your unique story through art, words, and imagery. Application packets will be available at all Townsend School offices and the Library starting in September.
Congratulations again to all participants for embracing the challenge with authenticity and heart!
