The Lady Bulldogs are divisional champions! The Bulldogs took first and second place in the doubles division, and third and fourth place in the singles division. The Bulldogs will send 6 players to the State tournament on the 22nd, 23rd, and 24th.
The divisional tournament started on Wednesday, May 14. Not many matches were played because of the rain but the Bulldogs were reminded by their coaches, John Odell and Tyler Patrick, to stay positive. On Thursday, the Bulldogs showed a dominant lead over all of the other teams. Violet Collins and Bryleigh Erickson won their first round match against Red Lodge and won their Semi-Final match against Jefferson to secure a spot in the Championship. Chloe Flynn and Carsyn Odell also won their first-round match against Jefferson and then beat Red Lodge to secure their spot in the championship. The Bulldogs went head-to-head in the Championship with Violet Collins and Bryleigh Erickson ending up in first place and Chloe Flynn and Carsyn Odell in second place.
The singles had a much larger bracket. Harper Wolfgram won her first match against Granite, as well as her second match against Bella McDaniel from Broadwater, sending her into the semifinals. Bella McDaniel won her first round match against Three Forks, but lost to her own teammate before the semi-finals. McDaniel won her next matches against Red Lodge and Jefferson. Meanwhile, Harper Wolfgram lost a tough semi-final match against Three Forks and that sent her to the back of the bracket. Divisionals finished on Friday, May 16th. Harper Wolfgram played Red Lodge, and Bella McDaniel played Granite to determine whether they’d be playing in a match for third or fourth, or fifth or sixth. Both Bella and Harper pulled out a win and played each other for a second time to determine whether they’d be third or fourth place. Both players played amazingly, but Harper Wolfgram ended in third place, and Bella McDaniel ended in fourth place.
As for team awards, the Bulldogs beat the other teams in points! This is the second year in a row that the Lady Bulldogs are Divisional Champions. The second-place team was Three Forks, and the third-place team was Jefferson.
The Bulldogs are super excited to play at the State meet this weekend in Missoula. Good Luck, Bulldogs!
