School is over, and a new chapter is starting for a period of three months. You won’t believe how excited I am. Think back to when you got your first place. The nervousness, the stress, the elaborate planning, all of it was there, but waking up each morning, I forget about all of the negativity. What fills my heart the most is excitement. My boyfriend and I have gotten an apartment with one of his friends. The boys will be paying rent, but I will be holding up my end by buying groceries to cook for Nathan and me and paying for utilities.

We are living in an apartment complex in Northwest Appleton, and it is amazing! The living room is open, and we get a porch with a sliding glass door. The dining room is small, but the kitchen space makes up for it, with many drawers and cabinet space and a pantry to top it off! There are two bathrooms, one being in the master bedroom. Both rooms have closets with ample space, and the master bedroom even has a walk-in closet. It is so hard to describe how beautiful it is. It may be because I am overwhelmed with excitement, but trust me when I say this. I am stunned by how good the apartment looks.

We have spent the past four days moving, organizing, and planning. As stressful as it is, it is fun! The theme for our bedroom has been picked. We have a farmhouse-type theme with mostly neutral colors - black, grey, off-white, and burnt orange being the main colors. We have beautiful pictures to hang up, including a painting of a whitetail deer, Laurel Dummermooth’s pencil drawing titled Hang On Partner, a few family pictures, and my family’s yearly calendar. It has been hard work, but I have learned a lot.

With Nathan and I working together to get a task done in a way where we can both be extremely satisfied with the outcome, I have been learning a lot about patience, communication, and consideration. Nathan and I have very different views on how things should look. He wants barely anything on the walls or out in the open, but I want a picture wall and things to display on windowsills, dressers, and nightstands (to give you an image) - in this case, I need to be considerate. I need to communicate well in times of ease and in times of stress, so we can be efficient and work better together as a team. I also need to be patient when we both would rather be stubborn and only think about our way in which to do things. It is surprisingly hard and way different than long distance.

Everything is new and different. However, I am excited to grow in so many new ways, realizing that though it is important to be self-sufficient, that doesn’t mean ignoring the needs of others. I can’t wait to see what this chapter has in store for me!
