Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff, and it’s All Small Stuff!
No more talk about weather, or lawns I promise.
We all try to talk down, anyone who looks “STRESSED”! Telling them it’s ok, to calm down and things will get better. And most times they will. Regular, daily life has its triggers (Geez, I hate saying "trigger" with all the drama nowadays). There are things in everyday life that are so SMALL, but they set us off at a moment’s notice. We call these things "Pet peeves" or just "annoyances".
At times this “small stuff” seems to gang up on us and, even though they are not important, it seems like life is saying, “Hey slow down, enjoy your life”. I am a definite carrier of momentary anger, and stress.
As I get older (this has lot to do with it) I drop things. Then in the middle of picking things up, I drop others. Then I growl, and scream! (No wonder the neighbors are always calling to find out if everything if ok or calling the cops.)
I am so much better than I used to be, now sometimes I just laugh and go one with my day. These things can upset us, and I know sometimes I feel like life is doing these things on purpose. My main failing is I move around too fast! (I’m sure the folks around town have noticed this.) I am learning to slow down. But at my advanced age (don’t say it) I don’t feel like I want to slow down that much. Hurrying can cause us to miss so much, cause us to stumble and cause ourselves trouble. The roses are out now, stop and snort a bunch.
Many folks I have known (I am one) are self-stressors, we cause ourselves stress. Try to find a hobby or relax more after work. I love sitting out on my front porch and watching the squirrels. (I never said I wouldn’t talk about squirrels.) Life is way too short to be stressed over the little things, even when we THINK they are not so small.
The Doctor’s and Pharmacy people want you to stress a bit; they have pills for that. Nature has all kinds of “anti-stress” medicine, taking care of your home, garden etc, reading, whatever it takes.
For the most part around here, you can sit outside and listen to the “quiet”. This is a beautiful thing. So many folks in cities would love to have our quiet town.
So go enjoy, relax and relieve your stress. When I get REALLY angry, I go chop wood. I had to stop for a bit, as I have filled my barn to the rafters! Tis the time of spring/summer. That means LAKE time. Fishing, drifting, tubing down the river. Drinking Beer…uh, I mean, having a beverage, as you watch nature go through her dance of spring.
Enjoy our area and relax!
