Concise version: “I intended to write about a different topic, but recent events changed my mind.
President Trump posted a picture of himself as Pope on his social media during a mourning period for Pope Francis, highlighting the stark contrast between them. Pope Francis is known for his compassion toward immigrants and the poor. He lived modestly with seminarians, unlike the luxurious Vatican rooms.
I am concerned about a president who seems uncertain about upholding the constitution, despite taking an oath to do so. In an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump expressed uncertainty about the constitution, which has 23 amendments, though some focus only on the second one.
