V42 Gym Sponsors Miles Fun Run for Mason Moore Foundation

MT43 News Staff Reporter

V42 Gym owners Kira and Sean Gifford are once again sponsoring a challenge to all runners to stack up 43.8 miles for the Mason Moore Foundation. The miles number is Deputy Mason Moore’s badge number. This is the third year V42 has sponsored the run.

The runners can run, walk or jog throughout the month of May, beginning May 1st. The idea is to help both the Moore family and friends, as well as the two communities, Three Forks and Townsend, learn to move forward from this tragedy. “My intention behind sponsoring the miles program is for people to move their bodies. That is good for mental health and to honor Deputy Moore,” she observed.

Deputy Moore was killed May 16, 2017, during a traffic stop near Three Forks on Highway 287.

The $50 signup fee will be a donation to the Foundation. The group, led by Moore’s widow, Jodi, provides grants for smaller Montana law enforcement agencies. She said the grants fund equipment and education. Gifford, who is a member of the Foundation board, pointed out the nonprofit has given a total of $250,000 since the foundation’s inception. “In 2022, we helped outfit the Broadwater County Sheriff’s office with a canine vehicle unit through a grant of $8,500. We have granted programs in the city of Manhattan, Cascade County, and law enforcement agencies in Dillon, Polson, Red Lodge, Meagher County and Glasgow, to name a few," she said.

Gifford has also planned a memorial “barbells and brews” workout event at the Townsend gym on at 500 Front Street that same Friday, May 16 beginning at 5:00pm.

Other Mason Moore Foundation members include Vice President Rebecca Jones and directors Clairissa Harris, Brynn Turcotte, Kira Gifford, Jessica Crusch and Brittany Greydanus. For more information, please call 406-290-3182.
