“Teacher Profiles”
Our Miss Brooke” is much different than the caustic-voiced lady remembered by some of us from the Eve Arden radio show of some years ago.
Margo Brooke is completing her third year in Cecilia Hazelton Elementary School, which is her third year of teaching. She has taught the 5th grade since coming here but has arranged to teach the 3rd grade next year.
Changing grades is a challenge she looks forward to as the emphasis will be different, as will her students, but she regrets too, the special things which make the 5th grade interesting.
Margo began college, with the intention of becoming a nurse, last summer helping with a remedial reading class moved her to start education classes and now she says, “I’m glad I did”.
She feels teaching must be approached with a ‘never give up’ attitude for despite disappointments at times has found that the results of her efforts do show in her students attitudes and accomplishments. She has a lively interest in what is going to happen to her classes, what they are going to do and how they will turn out. Someday, someplace, a result you can connect to your teaching shows up.
This Pony native, who received her degree from Carroll College in Helena is interested in skiing and hiking. Presently, she is looking forward to a 3 week trip to Europe when school is out. With a girl friend, she will visit Belgium and the Netherlands, two countries she missed when she spent a semester in Europe during college.
