Canton Church Gets a New Sign Victor Sample Canton Church Restoration The Canton Church is now 150 years old! After being moved from the town of Canton in 1952, the church has sat at its current location for the last 73 years.

By the 1990s, the historic church was abandoned and became quite an eyesore. Fred and Joy Meyer set out to restore the church and the community rallied behind them.

After the Canton Church was restored, a wooden sign was created and erected in front of the church. However, over the years, the sign itself was in need of restoration.

The Terry Love family, who have deep ties to the area and to the church, decided to donate the time and materials to create a new metal sign.

Tim Love, a shop teacher, created the sign based on a painting done by local artist Bonnie Olsen. The Love family bought the materials, and Tim had his shop class build the sign.

On April 21, 2025, Tim, Steve, and Tucker Love brought the sign to the Canton Church and installed it. The new sign is colorful, durable and captures the spirit of the historic Church!

Keith Kirscher, Canton Church Restoration President, took down the old sign before the Love family brought the new sign. The old Canton Church sign will be restored and will be put up in addition to the new sign.

Canton Church Restoration is very grateful to Terry, Tim, Steve, and Tucker for donating time and materials for the new Canton Church sign.
