Welcome To…Whatever Our Season is Today!

Ok, we had our last taste of winter…right? Good to know, with the sunshine starting to show up you can already sense the stirring in people’s souls.

Spring is on the way; the lawns are starting to green up and the trees although not budding out are holding their breath so they can begin to bud out. Waiting patiently for the last hoorah of winter.

Springtime is a time of renewal, an awakening of Nature and the drives that call to the souls of ALL species of animal and human. (I won’t go into the urges to procreate.) You can see all around us the dormant plants and animals; be careful going up into the mountains. Bears will be waking up and in a bad mood, not to mention hungry!

We human types have our own way of adjusting to spring, just like in the forest. You can see the Wal-Mart workers bringing out the bathing suits and barbeques. The merchandise seasonal shift, a few years ago I tried to find Duraflame logs in February. They had already put the winter stuff away! Geez, can’t we wait at least until the lake is melted?

The sunshine is great, I must confess I will enjoy the warmer months too. I have always liked the cold weather, but there is just something about a warm spring day. NOT ABOVE 70!

My squirrels are all around, and they are looking to make….more baby squirrels. They may not be fat just from scarfing down peanuts. I KNOW they can’t read, but I swear they know where to cross the street by my “Squirrel Crossing” sign.

To the ladies in town, I’m sorry I will not be able to provide you gardening books this spring. I know some of you are getting the urge to plant. Somebody offered me a used van to have for a movable bookstore. I was tempted, but nothing beats a great “Brick and Mortar" building. (I’m still looking.)

So go my people, prepare your gardening tools, prep the mowers and trenchers. The time of GREEN is upon us. (Hurry before the next snowstorm.)

Be well!
